Built around the hearth

The Empire Cafe has been a quiet fixture just off Briggate for years — the sort of place locals send their visiting friends. We keep things simple: good ingredients, cooked with care, served by people who actually want you to enjoy your meal.

Our menu leans on Yorkshire suppliers wherever possible. Proper breakfasts all day, a changing lunch board and specialty coffee from a local roaster. Whether you are stopping in for a quick flat white or settling in for a long Sunday lunch, you are welcome here.
